This step-by-step guide on how to draw a deer head in just 6 straightforward steps will keep you playing this amazing creature in no time. You can draw many more characters like batman drawing easy, Anubis drawing, cat drawing, cobra drawing, blueberry drawing, coconut drawing and many more drawing for kids.
Step 1:
In the introduction to this guide on drawing a deer head, we mentioned that the antlers are one of the hardest parts of the drawing. We’ll start with one of these woods for this step. The antlers will have a central part with pointed shapes that branch out. To draw this, we will use curved lines ending in sharp points for the parts that protrude from the tree’s center.
Step 2:
In this second part of your deer head drawing, you will add another antler for the head. It will be almost a mirror image of the one you drew earlier. There will be slight differences, but their structure should be quite similar. Once the two antlers are identical to the reference image, you can start drawing the head in the next steps.
Step 3:
Now that the antlers are complete, we’ll outline the head in this step of our guide to drawing a deer head. First, there will be two curved lines between and below the two masts. Next, we will use more curved lines for the outlines of the ears, and then there will be a sharp shape inside the ear on the right.
Next, we will continue to use more curved lines for the pointed face, and finally, for the outline, we will use an irregular line for the back of the neck. We will use this jagged line to make the neck look hairier. Finally, we’ll add some details for the inside of the face. These will include oval shapes for the eyes and lines on the face to give it more bone structure.
Step 4:
We will resume adding more to your deer skull drawing in the following step. Mainly, we will focus on the deer’s neck and chest. First, draw more curved and jagged lines at the front of the face and extend the one a little longer at the back. Again, this will help keep the deer nice and fluffy.
Next, we’ll draw a shape on the deer’s chest to make it look like there’s a tuft of hair. We’ll draw it using another jagged line that forms a pointed shape pointing down on the chest. Once you’ve drawn all of these aspects, we can add some final touches in the next step.
Step 5:
Your picture looks great already, but we’ll make it even better with some final details in this step of our guide to drawing a deer head. First, we’ll start with the eyes. They look creepy, so we’ll fix that by filling the eyes with a bit of black. Next, for the face, you can draw some details for the deer’s nose. You can add a few more lines around the nose for more detail.
Next, we’ll add line detail to the woods to give them more depth. You can then finish by drawing lots of small lines on the neck and back of the deer’s head to finish with more details on the hair. We chose these details for our image, but you can add your own too! Draw the rest of the deer or create a cool background for some ideas. We can’t wait to see what you decide to do!
Step 6:
For this sixth and final step of your deer head drawing, we will finish it with some amazing colors. In our reference image, we used subtle browns for the deer, but this is a step where you can have fun getting creative with your favorite colors as you draw!
In addition to choosing your colors, you can experiment with various artistic mediums. Whether you use painting mediums like acrylic and watercolor or opt for colored pens or markers, you will achieve an amazing image. Be sure to let your creativity run wild and see what happens!
