Checking PF balance on Mobile using EPFO Portal
You can check your PF balance through the passbooks found on the EPFO portal. But to view your mobile passbook of EPF, your account must be linked with your Universal Account Number (UAN). The website would then permit you to print or download your mobile passbook of EPF. For this, you must follow the steps below –
Step 1: Open your available mobile browser
Step 2: Visit the official website of epfindia.gov.in
Step 3: Under the option of services, you would have to select the option “For Employees”
Step 4: Choose “Member Passbook” under the option of services
Step 5: Enter your UAN number, captcha code, and password on the sign-in page for verification, and then click on login.
Step 6: To view your mobile passbook, select your member ID. Once selected, you should be able to view the PF balance on your passbook.
Checking PF balance through SMS
Upon the integration of the UAN with your KYC details, you will be able to check your PF balance through SMS on your mobile number by following the given steps –
- From your registered phone number, send an SMS to the number 7738299899;
- The sent messages need to be in the format of “EPFOHO UAN ENG”.
In the SMS, you should select your preferred language. To select it, you would have to enter the beginning three letters of your chosen language. For instance, for English, you would have to type in ENG; simultaneously, for Hindi, you would have to type in HIN. You can avail of the language facility in several languages, such as Marathi, Bengali, Malayalam, Tamil, Kannada, Punjabi, Gujarati, and Hindi.
Checking PF balance through missed call
In case you have difficulty reaching your PF balance through the other methods, you also have the option of checking for the balance on your mobile number by simply sending a missed call on the checking number of the PF balance from the mobile number you have registered. Although, you would only be able to use this service if your UAN details from the UAN passbook are linked with your KYC details.
To check your PF balance through a missed call from your registered mobile number, you first need to send a missed call to the number 011-22901406. After making the call, you will receive your EPF details via SMS on your registered mobile number.
Other ways of checking the PF balance
You can also view your PF balance through an application managed by the government called UMANG. Through this application, the government also provides various other services. To check your PF balance through your mobile number, you must use their UAN. Through the UMANG app, you can check the EPF balance by first installing and downloading the application.
Once you have the application, you can launch the app and reach EPFO. From your drop-down menu, you can select the option of employee-centric services. You would then need to select the option of viewing the passbook to view the PF balance. Now, you enter the UAN and choose the option of getting the OTP. Then you can click on login by entering the number and view your EPF balance by selecting the proper ID number. At this point, your PF balance will be displayed in your mobile passbook on your phone.
