The top-notch features and extremely powerful WiFi performance of Netgear Orbi mesh WiFi system can lure anyone. That is why a large proportion of people prefer doing Orbi setup to access a super duper fast internet connection. But, then comes the WiFi bandits who search for a home network with the weakest security and steal WiFi. Changing the Orbi admin login and network password can help. But, considering that some people are hell-bent on stealing others’ WiFi, you ought to identify and block them as soon as possible.

This article is particularly based on the instructions to block unauthorized devices from the WiFi network of your Orbi mesh system. So, read on to find out how to prevent unauthorized access to your Netgear Orbi.

How to Block Devices from Orbi Network?

  1. Power Up the Orbi Network

Start the process by powering up your Orbi mesh network. In other words, consider switching on your Orbi router and all the satellites synced to it. Ensure that the wall sockets into which you’ve plugged your WiFi devices are all well and are capable of supplying continuous electricity. In case your devices [router and satellite] are not synced, then sync them with the push of the Sync button located on their hardware. Besides, ensure that your satellites are present in the range of the router. You can use a UPS if your area suffers excessive power outages.

  1. Connect Your Router to Modem

The moment you see the Orbi blue light on the satellite, you can connect the router to the modem. A damage-free Ethernet cable will be able to help you achieve this goal. Consider using the one that when put to use transfers data at higher speeds. In addition to this, make sure that the connection created by you is strong by all means. In other words, the connection must be created using the correct ports of your WiFi devices and the ports must be clean plus non-damaged.

  1. Open a Web Browser

The next step demands you to open a web browser since you can view or block the devices accessing your Orbi only via its web-based management console. However, you must be a little choosy while picking up the web browser. The chosen one must fit the criteria of being updated and it must be free of cache and cookies. You can choose any web browser from the elite list of Chrome, Edge, Safari, Explorer, etc.

  1. Visit orbilogin.net

As soon as the web browser’s dashboard shows up, consider entering orbilogin.net or orbilogin.com into it. After that, press the Enter key. The web address is supposed to be entered without errors. But, avoid typing it into the search box of the address browser. The next screen you will come across will be the Netgear Orbi admin window or simply the Netgear router login screen.

  1. Log in to Your Orbi

Now, enter the default password and username of your Netgear Orbi router into the fields highlighted. Know that the default credentials of Orbi are case-sensitive. Thus, you are not allowed to make even a single character mistake. In case you are not familiar with the default passcode and username of your Orbi device, consider taking help from the device’s user manual. This is to inform you that the user manual consists of every detail about the mesh system. It means whether you want to know about the router’s admin detailsor the Orbi color codes, you’ll find everything in there.

  1. Turn On the Access Control

After logging in to your Netgear Orbi router, select the Advanced tab and click the option labeled “Security”. Afterward, select Access Control and select the check box adjacent to the option with the same name. Specify the access rule. Since you want to block unauthorized devices, consider selecting the option “Block all new devices from connecting” and setting rules. To allow a specific device, consider clicking the Allow option and the Apply button lastly. You will have the list of allowed and blocked devices.

Wrapping Up

That’s all you need to do in order to block a device from accessing the network of your Orbi mesh system. We expect that by following the aforementioned guidelines, you will be able to safeguard the Orbi WiFi network.
