The Triund Trek is a must for almost every tourist visiting Dharamshala and McLeodganj. It is one of Himachal Pradesh’s top tourist spots and is on most tourists’ bucket lists.
“You’ve been to Dharamshala many times, but have you never done the Triund Trek?” I remember my friend being surprised to learn that there was no “I think it’s too mainstream,” I countered.
But this time, when he spent a week in Dharamkot (aka Indian Mini-Israel) in December 2020, I decided to do it. I decided to do it in as short a time as possible to make it more exciting and not feel like chasing a crowd.
“How long does the Triund trek take?” I asked the manager of the hostel where I was staying. “Most of the time we can do it in 4-5 hours,” he replied. “What’s the shortest way to do it?” he asked.
“1 hour and 30 minutes”!
That’s it! I accepted the challenge! !
The next thing I noticed was that we (me and Sanjeev – same property, his manager and now best friends) were trying to make Triund his hike within 1 hour 30 minutes of him. .
